How do I insure my car outside of my home state?

I have been traveling a lot for work, and will often cross multiple state lines a week. I want to make sure I am protected. How do I insure my car outside my home state?

Good news—as long as you have insurance-based in your home state, your coverage should apply to any state in the US.
However, while you may be covered for driving to Canada, you will likely not be covered for trips to Mexico. If you are driving into Mexico, you will most likely need a new Mexico-specific insurance policy.
If your state of residency changes, you’ll need to change your address on your
car insurance
