Installing a tow hitch on your
Toyota Highlander
can help you harness its 5,000 pounds of towing power! Fortunately for you, it’s easy to install with the right tools. Follow these step-by-step instructions to install a tow hitch on your Toyota Highlander:
- Note that installing a tow hitch is far easier if you have a lift. If not, you can still do the installation by jacking up the car onto blocks.
- Remove the two rear panels on the underside of the vehicle by removing the snaps, plastic rivets, and screws.
- With a second person, hold the tow hitch into place and handscrew them into place using the pre-drilled holes in the body of the Highlander.
- Go through all screws/bolts and tighten them as much as possible with a socket wrench or drill.
- Put the plastic panels and rear panels back in place.
