How do I lower my car insurance premium? Progressive is charging me a ton. It seems like there has to be a way to pay less.

To save money, you can qualify for discounts through Progressive or reduce your coverage to the bare minimum required by your state.
Most drivers can qualify for some hefty discounts to lower their insurance premiums or monthly payments. Here are some of the discounts offered by
Progressive
:
  • Pay up front: If you pay your premium in full up front (as opposed to breaking it up into monthly payments), you may get a discount.
  • Set up
    autopay
: If you choose to pay for your policy monthly, then you could set up automatic payments through your credit card or bank account for another discount.
  • Go paperless: By opting to receive your insurance documents electronically instead of via mail, you’ll automatically receive a discount.
  • Drive safely
: Progressive personalizes your rates based on your driving history. So the safer you drive, the less you pay—especially if you use
    Snapshot
    .
  • Secure your car: If you have
    comprehensive coverage
, you may be eligible for another discount when you install an
    anti-theft device
    in your car.
You can also reduce your coverage to the
state minimum level
and remove optional coverages. Raising your deductible can help lower costs, too, but you should only do this if you can afford the deductible out-of-pocket.
