How do I get my car insurance deductible waived?

Can you get your car insurance deductible waived somehow? A rock hit my windshield and cracked it. I need to submit a claim to my insurance but have a $1,000 deductible for full coverage.

“Insurance companies are unlikely to waive a car insurance deductible. The only way you could get your deductible waived in this instance is if you have full glass coverage on your
car insurance
policy.
Most full glass coverage comes with a $0 to $50 deductible. So you’d only be responsible for the glass deductible amount—your insurance would cover the rest.
In your case, since you have a $1,000 deductible for
comprehensive insurance
, you would be required to pay that amount before your insurance would cover the broken windshield. As the cost of windshield repair is typically under $1,000, you’d be responsible for the cost out of pocket.
Note that glass coverage isn’t even always an option—availability depends on your insurance company and policy. You’ll need to reach out to your company or look at your
declaration page
to determine if glass coverage is included in your policy. If not, you can consider adding it or opting for a lower deductible in the future.
