“As long as you know the type of vehicle you’re buying and some other information, you can easily get an insurance policy before you buy your new car.
If you want to drive right off the lot, get your insurance policy before you
purchase your new car
. To do so, call your chosen insurance provider. You’ll need to provide some personal information plus the make, model, and odometer reading of the car you’re going to buy. If possible, you may also need to provide the vehicle identification number (VIN).
If you are purchasing a
second vehicle
or replacing an car already covered by your insurance policy, there is no need to get a policy beforehand. Insurance policies have grace periods to add new vehicles. Typically, this grace period is between seven and 30 days, but call your insurance provider to make sure.
Having a second car may also make you eligible for a multi-car discount, so you may want to inquire about this when you go to purchase insurance.
One easy way to get this done quickly and as easily as possible is to go quote shopping with insurance broker
Jerry
. Jerry compares dozens of quotes in seconds so you always get the best rate possible.”
