How do I get auto insurance if I'll be renting a car?
I will be renting a car while I am on vacation, but I do not have my own car or insurance because I live in the city and use public transportation, Lyft, etc. How do I get insurance to rent a car?
“The rental car company will offer rental car insurance at a daily rate. The liability insurance will be listed separately from the collision insurance, and it isn’t always the cheapest option available.
If you have credit cards, check with the credit card companies to see if they offer a rental car discount or free car rental insurance. You usually need to pay for the rental with the credit card in order to qualify for this benefit.
Your employer may also offer rental car coverage or rental discounts. Check with your HR representative.”
