How do I get an international driving permit for Greece?
After seeing some pictures of Santorini and Athens, I planned a three-week trip to Greece this summer. However, I want to see some far-off destinations that require me to rent a car. How do you get an international license to drive in Greece?

With unbelievable scenery, delicious food, ancient history, and lovely locals, Greece is a bucket-list destination for many people. If you want to drive to certain destinations, Greece requires an international driving permit (IDP) and a valid license from your home country.
The good news is that you can get an international driving permit for Greece from two officially sanctioned agencies:
- National Automobile Club (NAC)
You do not have to be a member of either organization to get an IDP. However, you will need to:
- Fill out an application
- Pay the corresponding fee
- Provide your driver’s license and two passport-sized photos, along with the application
Since your car insurance is unlikely to cover you in Greece, you may need to purchase supplemental
rental car insurance
