How do I get a hardship license in Michigan?

My license got revoked after I received a DUI conviction, but I don’t have any other way to get to school. I heard you can get a special driver’s license if you really need it. How do I get a hardship license in Michigan?

According to the
Michigan Vehicle Code
, you may apply for a restricted driver’s license 45 days after the original was revoked.
A restricted license will allow you to drive to and from your residence, your place of work, and school. It can only be issued by the Michigan
Office of Hearings and Administrative Oversight (OHAO)
, which requires you to petition for
license restoration
in a hearing.
You’ll find everything you need to know about scheduling a hearing and presenting your case in the
OHAO form package
. To succeed, you must prove both that you need a driver's license and that you are not a threat to public safety. A driver's license restoration lawyer can help you present a convincing argument and navigate the large amount of paperwork involved.
You’ve only got one shot to make your appeal, so take it seriously. Good luck and safe driving!
