. The issue is likely with a broken instrument cluster or electrical short.The most simple solution is that the panel light dimmer is on. This should be a turnable knob to the left of the wheel.
If the dimmer isn’t what’s wrong, there’s probably an electrical issue. A bad instrument cluster—the warning lights and gauges on your dash—could cause the problem. Bad instrument clusters were a common issue in the 1990 Lincoln.
Or, the issue could be a short in the wiring that connects the instrument cluster to the battery. Finding and fixing this issue can be pretty complex, so unless you’ve got some serious electrical knowledge, it’s best to leave this fix to a professional.
