How do I fix front bumper license plate holes?

My wife and I just moved from New York to Delaware. In Delaware, you don’t need a front license plate, which is fine. But in New York, we had both front and back license plates. Now we have license plate holes in our front bumper. How can I fix my front bumper license plate holes?

Congratulations on your move to the First State! Yes, former New Yorkers have had to confront this issue for many decades. Luckily, fixing license plate holes can be approached in a variety of low-cost ways.
You can fix the holes in your car’s front bumper by:
  • Place a non-DMV plate on the front of your car. Look around. You’ll see a lot of people use that front plate area to advertise their favorite NFL team or alma mater. If you look online, you’ll likely be amazed at the types of plates that are around.
  • Use bumper plugs designed for your vehicle. Installing bumper plugs is fairly easy, and they will disguise the holes.
  • Fill the hole with Bondo and use touch-up paint. Many car owners find this approach is also easy enough to do themselves.
Best of luck on your move to lovely Delaware!
