How do I fix cigarette burns in my cloth ceiling?

My used 2008 Mercedes has cigarette burns on the ceiling from the previous owner. Is there anything I can do to have them removed?

“While you can usually get a good
deal on a used car
, you can’t control how the previous owner treated the vehicle.
Since reupholstering your car’s ceiling to remove them is a huge task, an easier option would be putting on a patch to cover them.
To do so, you’ll need:
  • Piece of cloth that matches your car’s interior
  • Solvent-based glue
  • Flocking glue
  • Velour topcoat
Once you’re ready, do the following:
  • Slice a small patch of cloth that is only slightly bigger than your cigarette burn.
  • Your patch should not be bigger than a dime, so it doesn’t show against the rest of the fabric of the ceiling.
  • Dab a tiny amount of solvent-based glue on the cigarette burn. Make sure the glue doesn’t bleed beyond the perimeter of the burn.
  • Apply your patch directly over the burn area. Hold it for a few minutes to be sure it sticks.
  • Spray the area with flocking glue to seal.
  • Apply a modest amount of velour topcoat to the area to prevent it from becoming sticky.
Once the glue and topcoat have dried, your ceiling should look good as new! If you have issues with your fix or the burn marks are still noticeable, consider reaching out to a Mercedes dealership or a professional upholsterer. Either can typically assist with repairs.
Since you are actively working to maintain your Mercedes, check your

coverage as well. Car insurance protects your vehicle beyond aesthetic appearances and keeps you safe, too!
