How do I fix a vibrating motorcycle engine?
I have been riding my motorcycle for the last ten years and haven’t had any problems until now. The engine vibrations have gotten so bad that my hands are numb after a short ride. How do I fix my vibrating motorcycle engine?

I’m sorry to hear your motorcycle engine vibration is causing numbness in your hands! There are several reasons your motorcycle engine could be vibrating, from low oil to clogged air filters. It may take some troubleshooting to fix engine vibrations but once you do, you’re in for a smooth ride.
To reduce or fix the vibrations in your motorcycle engine you can:
- Fill your engine oil. Perform regular oil checks and keep your oil full to avoid hot engine vibrations.
- Change your engine oil. As your bike’s oil gets dirtier, it thickens, leading to low flow rates and a dry engine.
- Realign disks and brakes. Tight brakes could cause your motorcycle to run hotter and increase your engine’s vibrations. Regularly check your brakes and the alignment of the disks.
- Valve tappets. If your valve tappets are not properly fitted, they will cause your engine to vibrate. This is a common problem that can be fixed by a mechanic.
- Change your air filters. Regularly clean your air filters to avoid clogging. This can be an unexpected cause of engine vibrations.
- Lubricate your wheel chains. Tight chains can add extra load to the engine and create tension causing the engine to vibrate. Regularly oil and adjust your wheel chains.
