How do I find out if my car was towed?

I parked on the street when my friends and I went for breakfast this morning, but when I came out, my car was gone. I’m worried it was stolen, but is there a way I can check to see if my car was towed?

Yes! Depending on your state, there are different ways to determine if your car was towed. 
Here are your options:
  • Call your local police department and give the police dispatcher your car’s license plate number
  • Contact the business if it was on private property
  • Go online and check your city’s towed vehicle locator website (you’ll need to provide your license plate number or your VIN)
