I'm not sure if my car has insurance, and I don't want to drive until I find out. Where can I check?

You’re right not to drive your car until you find out. If you do have insurance, your provider should have sent you
proof of insurance
in the form of policy documents and an insurance card.
If you can’t locate those documents, you can check your car insurance status by contacting your local DMV. Insurance information is protected under privacy laws, so in order to access the info, you’ll need to provide:
  • Your contact information
  • The reason for your request
Be sure the information you give is current and verifiable to make sure that your request won’t be denied.
If you don’t have insurance, you’ll need to fix that as soon as possible, as driving while without insurance is illegal. The easiest and quickest way to get new insurance is through the
Jerry
app. Jerry will collect insurance quotes for you in a matter of minutes for free, saving you both time and money.
