How do I find my lost car keys?
What are the best ways for me to find my lost car keys? I came into the house, put my keys down, and now I can’t find them! I lose my keys all the time, and I need some strategies to help me find them.

Losing your keys can be frustrating—but try not to worry. They have to be somewhere! Just stay calm and use these four tips to find your car keys:
- Take a deep breath and brainstorm. Try to visualize the last time you had your keys. See if you can mentally retrace your steps and picture where you put them.
- Physically retrace your steps. If you lost your keys recently, try standing where you first entered the house and retracing your steps. Check any countertop areas along the way for your missing keys.
- Check your car. It’s an easy mistake to make, and it could mean your car is still unlocked. Gocheck your carand see if you left the keys somewhere around the driver’s seat.
- Clean as you go. Car keys can sometimes slip in inconspicuous areas that make them hard to spot. Cleaning as you search can help you spot your keys in places you might otherwise miss.
When it comes to finding your keys, the best steps are preventative. Try reserving a bowl or hook by your front door for keys, so you remember to put them in a consistent place.
