Shopping for home insurance, especially when it’s your first time, can be overwhelming. You can find the right home insurance company by comparing quotes from multiple providers.
Don’t sign up for a policy with the first company you find—you might end up overpaying for your coverage. Your best bet is to estimate the level of coverage you want, then gather quotes from at least three providers before deciding which one is for you.
Your personal belongings inside the home or in a storage unit
Personal liability, which can help cover legal expenses if someone is injured on your property
Loss of use coverage, which can help with living expenses if your home is so damaged it becomes temporarily uninhabitable
Consider your property value and where you live—what kinds of losses or damage is your property most likely to face? How much would it cost to replace your home and/or your personal possessions?
