How do I deduct car insurance from my taxes?

I use my car for business. Is it possible to deduct my car insurance when doing my taxes? If so, how?

and car insurance, you can deduct them in the following cases:
  • As a business owner
  • Freelance/contract worker
  • W2 or salaried employee
Because you use your car for work, you can claim some of it as a business expense. There’s usually a percentage of miles you can claim as business-related travel, which will help determine the amount of your car insurance you can claim as a business expense.
However, anything considered a commute doesn’t count, which may be your first and last drive of the day.
You can also get a
tax credit
if you own a hybrid or electric car.
