I’m so sorry that happened. To start off, make sure you are in a safe location and file a police report if necessary. While you’re still at the scene of the accident, take pictures and get the following information from the other driver(s):
  • Name
  • Contact information
  • License plate number
  • Insurance provider
  • Insurance policy number
Once you’re ready to call your insurance company, it’s important to answer all questions honestly. Be prepared for them to ask you to provide:
  • Photos
  • Details about the accident
  • Details about where you were when the accident occurred
  • Information about any passengers in the car
  • Contact information for the other drivers
  • A copy of the police report
  • Any medical bills resulting from the accident
During that call, be sure to ask what your next steps should be. Typically, an insurance adjuster will be assigned to your claim to figure out what happened and how much you will be owed.
