How do I cover a broken car window?
How can I fix my car's broken window? I was playing around with a friend, and we accidentally threw a baseball through the front window.

Fortunately, you can make a temporary covering for your car window pretty quickly with a few basic items. This should tide you over until you can get it fixed properly.
To cover your car window, you need to gather a few things:
- Masking tape
- Gloves
- Cloth or rags
- Vacuum cleaner
- Heavy-duty trash bag
- Hammer
Once you have everything assembled, here’s how to cover your window:
Put on your gloves, and take out all of the big glass pieces on the seats and floors. Use the hammer to take out any stubborn pieces from your door window. Be careful when working with glass to avoid injury. It’s a good idea to wear a pair of safety glasses, as well.
Thoroughly vacuum any remaining glass debris that is inside and around the vehicle. Be sure to vacuum around the window frame.
Prep the area around the window. Clean any dust or debris from the area so the tape will have a good place to stick. Let the area dry before continuing
Using your heavy-duty trash bag, cut a panel to position over the window.
Hold the plastic in place with masking tape. Only use masking tape as other types of tape may ruin your car’s paint.
Secure the plastic with about 10 large pieces of masking tape.
Use a second layer of masking tape to create a seal around the plastic.
If you need the cover to last for a few days, consider adding a second layer of plastic.
