How do I connect Bluetooth on a Toyota Highlander?
I have a 2020 Toyota Highlander, but up until recently, I’ve never used the Bluetooth feature. I’m trying to be more safety-conscious, so I want to connect Bluetooth to my phone to make and receive calls. How can I connect Bluetooth to my Toyota Highlander?

Bluetooth is a great safety-conscious feature, so enabling it on your
Toyota Highlander
is a smart move! To pair your phone and the Highlander with Bluetooth, follow these simple steps:
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
- Press the menu button just below the main touch screen.
- Press the phone icon on the touch screen.
- Select yes when the system asks you if you want to pair a phone with Bluetooth.
- Select your phone from the list that appears.
- Make sure the PIN on your car’s display matches the one on your phone.
- Allow your phone to sync contacts to the Bluetooth system of the Highlander.
- Alternatively, you can select settings and then Bluetooth to get to the same menu to set up your Bluetooth pairing.
Once you connect Bluetooth, you have quite a few options. You can:
- Add your most often called contacts to the touch screen.
- Add a widget to your contacts.
- Listen to music.
However, modern models of the 2020 Toyota Highlander also allow you to use Apple CarPlay. If you have an iPhone, this might be a better option than traditional Bluetooth pairing.
