How do I clean out car cup holders?

Is there a way I can clean out car cup holders? I've been driving around with dirty cup holders, and I hate looking at them!

“Cup holders can get super gross, but there are few steps you can follow to easily clean them up.
Remove all items from your cup holder(yes, even that penny that is stuck in the bottom). Wipe the cup holders with a cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap. This will remove most gunk and grime. If there are really tough-to-clean spots, pour warm soapy water into your cup holder and let it soak for one to two minutes to loosen the grime. Wipe out the solution with a clean rag. Dry with a clean cloth. Let the cup holders air dry before you use them again.
If you want an easy way to keep your cup holders clean, buy a washable insert that you can remove to wash in the dishwasher.
