How do I clean leatherette car seats?
What do you clean leatherette car seats with? I’ve heard leatherette seats can crack if they’re not maintained properly. I’ve never cleaned my car seats before. What materials are safe to use on leatherette?

Cleaning our car seats are some of the
basic maintenance
steps we often neglect. That said, leatherette can indeed crack or break if it is not well maintained. Fortunately, cleaning leatherette car seats is a quick and easy process!
First, you’ll want to gather the following materials:
- Vacuum
- Leather cleaner
- Clean, soft towel
- Chamois
- Leather conditioner (optional)
Steps to properly clean the leatherette:
- Step one: Remove any debris and vacuum the seats. If you wet or apply cleaner to the leatherette without removing dust or debris, it makes the cleaning process more difficult.
- Step two: Use a leather cleaner. Leatherette is not considered a washable material. It’s important to invest in a good leather cleaning product. Use a soft towel to spread the cleaner evenly.
- Step three: Use a chamois to wipe off all the leather cleaner.
- Step four: Let the seats dry naturally.
After the seats have dried, you can also apply a leather conditioner to improve the appearance and prevent the leatherette from cracking in the future.
