How do I check to see if my car is registered in my name?

What's the best way to see if a car is registered in your name? My uncle bought a car for me several years ago. He recently passed away. I'm unsure if the vehicle is registered in my name, and I have no idea who to ask. What should I do?

To see if your car is registered in your name, you’ll need your vehicle identification number (VIN).
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) is a non-profit fighting car theft and insurance fraud. They have a handy tool to check your car’s legal status called VINCheck.
Simply type in your car’s VIN to check your vehicle’s history report. You can use this to ensure your car’s
registration
is in your name. The VIN is usually found where the windshield and dashboard meet on the driver’s side.
