Welcome to the world of car insurance—it may seem confusing, but I’m happy to say that to tell what kind of insurance you have, simply check your policy paperwork.
Liability coverage includes bodily injury and personal damage coverage. These pay for bodily injury, property damage, and death resulting from an accident in which you were at fault.
Medical coverage and personal injury protection covers medical expenses resulting from a car accident, lost wages, and most other accident-related expenses no matter who caused the accident.
Uninsured motorist coverage includes coverage for damages resulting from a driver without insurance.
Collision coverage pays for damages to your vehicle when it hits another vehicle, while comprehensive coverage pays for damage resulting from your car getting vandalized, flooded, or stolen.
The amount of coverage you need under each section depends on your driving history, whether you’re leasing or financing your vehicle, and other factors. Contact your insurance rep if you need help choosing coverage.
