How do I change the power steering fluid on a Honda Accord?

When it’s time to change the power steering fluid, my dad usually comes over and does that for me. This weekend he is out camping with my mom, and it just so happens I’m also due to change the power steering [fluid](https://getjerry.com/advice/how-to-check-and-add-brake-fluid-by-nicholas-wilson). I’ve never done this myself before. How do I change the power steering fluid?

Don’t worry; changing your power steering fluid is not a complicated task!
Follow these steps to change the power steering fluid on a Honda Accord:
  • Open the hood of your vehicle. Locate the power steering fluid reservoir. There is a label stating this. It also has a red cap.
  • Open the cap and set it aside. Take a clean and new turkey baster and stick it into the reservoir. Suck up the old power steering fluid and squeeze out the old fluid into an empty container. Repeat this step until you suck out all the dark and old fluid. If a little bit is remaining at the bottom, that is okay. Remove the container and set it aside away from the vehicle.
  • Refill the reservoir with new power steering fluid. Take a Honda power steering fluid bottle and pour the clear fluid into the reservoir.
  • Put the red cap back on the power steering fluid reservoir. Start the car and turn the steering wheel clockwise and counterclockwise a few times to circulate the new power steering fluid. After that, turn off the car.
  • Go back to open the red cap from the power steering fluid reservoir. Use the same turkey baster earlier to drain out the reservoir again and dump out the old fluid in the previous container you used.
  • Repeat steps three and four for another two to three times. Remember to check the color of the fluid by using the turkey baster each time after you turn the steering wheel. Once the color is lighter, put the red cap back on and close the hood of your vehicle.
Now you know how to change the power steering fluid yourself!
