How do I change the policyholder on car insurance?
My sister is giving me her car. She has insurance on it currently and said I could keep the same policy. How would I change her insurance to me as the policyholder?

on the car already is convenient, you need to get your own policy.Car insurance rates depend on many different factors, but companies base most of them on your personal information. Depending on where you live and your driving record, your rate could be more or less expensive than what your sister is currently paying.
If you’d like to keep insurance with the same company, you’ll need to purchase a new policy with them. To do this, you’ll need to provide the provider with:
- Your name
- The VIN (vehicle identification number)
- Your driver’s license number
- Your address
- Your Social Security number
With this information, the insurance company can calculate your rate for insuring the vehicle. Even if you like the rate they’re offering, consider shopping around.
