How do I change the key fob battery on a Honda?

I’ve had a Honda HRV Touring for about a year and I love everything about it. Unfortunately, the key fob has been acting strange and only works on occasion. I think I need to change the battery. How can I change the key fob battery on a Honda?

Don’t worry too much if the key fob on your
Honda HRV Touring
has started to fail. The typical battery life is about three or four years, so your battery may be just about dead. To replace the key fob battery on a Honda, follow these steps:
  • Locate a tab on the back of your key fob.
  • Push or pull this tab to release your spare key.
  • Take this spare key and use it to carefully pry apart the key fob.
  • One side of the key fob should contain the battery.
  • Use a pen tip to pry out the battery without breaking the tabs holding it in place.
  • Buy a new CR2032 battery for about $2.
  • Switch the old battery out for the new battery.
  • Repeat these steps in reverse order to complete the task.
