How do I change the coolant in my Honda Accord?

My Accord has been running kind of warm lately. How can I change the coolant in my car and hopefully fix the engine temperature problem?

That can’t be good. Follow these steps to change the coolant in your Honda Accord and keep your engine running smoothly:
  1. Turn up the heater in your car to its highest setting. Then, turn off the car promptly after.
  2. Open the hood and remove the radiator cap. Make sure the cap and engine are cool to the touch before doing so, or hot coolant may scald you.
  3. Find and remove the radiator drain plug, located under the vehicle at the base of the radiator. Place a drain pan under the plug to catch the fluid that will drain out. Use a wrench to remove the plug.
  4. Remove the radiator overflow reservoir by lifting it directly out of its holder. Dump it into the drain pan and place it back in its holder.
  5. Replace the drain plug after all of the coolant has flowed out.
  6. Refill the radiator with a 50/50 coolant mix, which you can buy at any auto parts store.
  7. Loosen the bleed bolt on top of the engine using a wrench. (This is only applicable on four-cylinder Accords.) Tighten the bolt when coolant runs from the plug with no bubbles.
  8. Confirm correct coolant levels in the radiator; it should be filled up to the top of the opening. Add more coolant if necessary.
  9. Replace the radiator cap, then fill the coolant reservoir to its specified marking.
Just like that, you’ve changed the coolant in your Honda Accord! Hopefully, this addresses any engine temperature issues you may be having without the need to
