How do I change the car that's covered on my insurance?

I recently purchased a new car and I traded in my old one. I obviously don't need my old one covered anymore, but I'm not sure how to transfer my insurance to my new car. How can I change the car on my car insurance policy?

“Congrats on the new ride!
When you purchase a new car and trade in the old one, most
car insurance
providers will initiate the transfer for you. By going this route instead of canceling the old policy and getting a new one, you can save time and potentially save some money.
However, you still need to assess your car insurance needs. If you’re financing the car, your lender will require you to carry both
comprehensive coverage
and
collision coverage
as a stipulation of your loan.
When you call to change the car on your insurance, your insurer should give you a new quote. If it’s not to your liking, you can always shop other car insurance companies to see if you can find a cheaper alternative.
One of the easiest ways to do this is through
Jerry
. We’ll get you multiple customized quotes from top-of-the-line providers so that you can easily choose the plan that works best for you. And if you want to switch plans or providers, we’ll even help with the paperwork and phone calls, so all you have to do is focus on getting your car out on the road.
Best of luck, and enjoy your new ride!”
