How do I change the battery in my Honda key fob?

Is there a way to change the battery in a Honda key fob? The buttons are unreliable, and the fob only works about half the time. I think it’s because the battery’s dying, but I don’t know how to replace it.

Your Honda
key fob
battery should only last for 3-4 years, so you may need to replace it more often than you’d think. That said, you can follow these steps to change the battery in a Honda key fob:
  1. Remove your metal key from your fob by sliding the silver button on your key.
  2. Pry apart the key fob with a screwdriver. Put your thumb just above the battery while you do this to avoid spilling any other pieces.
  3. Remove the old battery, and note how it was placed in the key fob.
  4. Insert your new battery in the same position as the old one. You can use the + and - marks to guide you.
  5. Snap the halves back together and replace the metal key.
  6. Test your key fob to make sure it’s back in working shape.
Hopefully, these steps can help you fix your
Honda
key fob. But if you’re still having trouble, bring your car to a Honda dealer. While they’ll charge you for the new battery, they can sometimes change it for you for free.
