How do I change the air filter in my Pontiac G6?
To save money, I learned how to change the oil in my car by myself—but I know they check other things like fluids and filters. Can you tell me how to change the air filter in a Pontiac G6?

Changing your oil and filters at home is a great way to save money and become acquainted with your car! But doing any car repairs or maintenance can feel overwhelming if you haven’t done it before.
Here’s how to change the air filter in a Pontiac G6:
- Get your hands on a Torx T25 screwdriver
- Check your owner’s manual for replacement part numbers and buy a new air filter
- Find the air filter housing on the front passenger side of the engine bay (it’s made of black plastic)
- Remove the cover by unscrewing the three Torx screws (don’t lose them!)
- Slide out the old air filter
- Install the new filter
- Replace the cover and screws
That’s it! This replacement is quick and easy, and doing it at home will save you a bunch of money over time.
