How do I change my car insurance address?

I'm finally moving out of my hometown, and I'm pretty sure I need to change my address with my insurance provider. With everything else involved with moving, though, it feels exhausting, and I don't know where to start. How do I change the address on my car insurance?

It’s important that you notify your insurance provider of your move as soon as possible. To update your address, you’ll need to call your insurance carrier to notify them of the change. Some insurance companies will also allow you to change your address online or on the carrier’s mobile app.
You may be asked the following questions:
  • What is your new address?
  • Where will your vehicle be kept?
  • How far do you commute to work or school?
  • How many miles do you anticipate driving the car per year?
  • Will there be any new household residents?
Remember to change the address on your license since that should be the same as the one on your insurance!
Keep in mind: The primary place where your vehicle is kept is a significant factor in determining your car insurance rate, so it’s possible you could see an
insurance rate increase
, particularly if you’re moving to a high-traffic or high-crime area. If this happens, the
