How do I change my 2007 Nissan Altima interior lights?

A ceiling light on my 2007 Nissan Altima burned out last year, but we had a newborn and I couldn’t get my act together to fix it. Now one of the above door lights has burned out, too, and my wife is pregnant again, so I have to take care of this now! How do I change Altima interior lights?

Congrats on your rapidly growing family! Changing interior lights can feel like an insignificant task, but you’ll be thankful for the extra visibility when installing an
infant car seat
. You’ll also be happy to know it’s actually quite easy to change your 2007
Nissan Altima
interior lights.
First, take the needed precautions:
  • Check that your new light is the correct voltage, wattage, and fits the socket. Ensure you purchase a light for the correct area in your car interior and model of Altima.
  • Ensure the light is turned off and is cool.
  • Wear plastic gloves to avoid touching the light or its electrical components with your hands.
Next, replace the lights:
  • Pop off the light caps using a screwdriver.
  • Carefully pull out the bulb. Wearing latex gloves might help if you’re having trouble.
  • Push a new bulb into place and test it. If it doesn’t work, flip it over and test it again.
  • Snap the light covers back on.
You can replace your lights with either incandescent bulbs or LEDs. LEDs last longer and don’t emit as much heat. Each are available from your auto parts store or online.
