How do I change a tire on a Honda Civic?

How do I replace a tire on a Honda Civic? My TPMS light has been on for two weeks, and I knew I needed to check on my tire pressure, but I always forgot to do it and was sidetracked running around after three kids. I was on my way to pick up my son from his karate class when I noticed something strange with one of the tires. It turns out, one of the tires was flat.

Taking care of three kids is certainly not easy and will keep you on your toes!
Although it is clear you are very busy as a parent, it is best to pull over to a safe area when your tire pressure monitoring system light is on. Ignoring this is a hazard, and it can cause a tire failure while you are on the road.
Here’s how to change a tire on a Honda Civic:
  • Find a level and non-slippery ground to park. Put the vehicle in Park and turn off the vehicle.
  • Go to the rear of the car and open the trunk. Open the trunk floor lid to take out the spare tire and tools case.
  • If you have a wheel block, put that in front of one of the front tires to prevent the car from moving.
  • Lay the spare tire on its side (wheel side up). Put the spare tire under the vehicle, near the faulty tire so it’s easier to switch the tires later.
  • Remove the wheel cover from the wheel. In the tool case you took out from the trunk earlier, take out a jack handlebar from the tool case and use it to remove the wheel cap. Next, take out a wheel nut wrench from the tool case and loosen each wheel nut, but don’t remove them yet.
  • Set the jack under the car and raise the vehicle. In the same tool case, you should find a jack. Place the
    jack
under the car, but close to the faulty tire. Turn the end bracket clockwise.
  • Remove all the wheel nuts and the faulty tire. Wipe the interior surface of the wheel with a clean cloth and the interior wheel rotor.
  • Put the spare tire in. Screw on the wheel nuts and make sure they are in place, but not tightened.
  • Lower the car and remove the jack. Now you can tighten each wheel nut. Make sure you tighten each one two to three times.
  • Put all the tools back in the tool case. Store the flat tire and tool case back inside the trunk.
Now you know how to change a flat
tire
!
Remember to make a trip to a body shop and get your spare tire replaced with a regular tire suitable for your vehicle. Spare tires are not designed to last very long and it is advised to not go for more than 50 miles on them.
