How do I change a Honda Accord headlight bulb?

I was pulled over recently, because one of my headlight bulbs is out. I got a warning instead of a ticket. I don’t want to get a fine the next time I’m out driving, but I don’t know how to change a headlight. What’s the easiest way to change a headlight bulb on a Honda Accord?

Thankfully, you got a warning this time! For your safety and others on the road, it is vital to notice when your headlight starts to dim, so you can replace the bulb before it burns out. To change a
Honda Accord
headlight bulb, follow these steps:
  1. Find the correct replacement bulb. If you’re unsure what type to buy, refer to your owner’s manual or visit a local auto retail store.
  2. Turn off the vehicle and remove the keys from the ignition.
  3. Put on vinyl or latex gloves. The natural oils from your hands can weaken or damage the bulb.
  4. Look for the headlight assembly under your hood. Depending on the year, you may have a battery preventing you from accessing the headlight assembly. If this is the case, loosen the bolts on the battery to push it back to allow more space to reach the headlight assembly.
  5. Remove the wires at the back of the headlight assembly. These wires connect to the bulb through a connector. Remove the connector by pressing the tabs together. Now, you can pull the connector out.
  6. Remove the bulb by grabbing onto the right angle and turning it counterclockwise. The bulb should come out.
  7. Insert the new bulb into the headlight assembly. Turn clockwise to set the bulb in place. This may require a few tries to get the correct positioning.
  8. Reattach the wires. If you moved the car battery earlier, slide it back in place and tighten the bolts to secure it.
  9. Get in the car and start the vehicle. Turn on the headlights to check the new bulb is working.
There you go, now you know how to change a light bulb!
