How do I cancel Root car insurance?
I'm not getting consistent monthly rates through Root insurance anymore, so I’m thinking of switching to another insurance provider. How do I cancel my policy?
Root is one of the few car insurance companies that you need to cancel with directly. Fortunately, you can cancel your policy in one of three simple ways.
To use the mobile app, navigate to policy & payments, select policy, and tap cancel my policy. If you would prefer to cancel over the phone, call an agent at 866-980-9431. You can also email email@example.com and ask them to cancel your account.
Just make sure to have new coverage lined up when you cancel: if your new policy start date doesn’t directly follow your old policy end date, you will have a lapse in coverage, which could have financial consequences down the road even if it’s for a day or two.
