I am moving to New York City, and I don't plan to keep my car. How do I cancel my car insurance?

The easiest way to
cancel your insurance
 is to call your insurance provider. This will often be enough to get your policy canceled or to stop auto-renewal.
Be aware that some insurance companies charge a cancelation fee, so be sure to check if you’ll be charged.
Additionally, make sure you know how long it takes to cancel your policy. Some companies allow you to cancel immediately, while others require 30 days’ notice. This would leave you paying for a whole extra month of service.
