How do I calibrate the tire pressure sensor on a Honda?

I just refilled the tires on my 2016 Honda HR-V. But for whatever reason, it’s still showing low tire pressure on the instrument panel. How can I calibrate the tire pressure on my Honda?

The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is a safety feature on all modern Hondas to make sure you don’t have a
flat tire
or blow a tire. The problem is that the pressure doesn’t calibrate itself.
To calibrate the tire pressure sensor on a Honda, follow these steps:
  • Put your vehicle in park.
  • Press the push-button start twice.
  • Use the selector wheel on the left side of the steering wheel to roll down until you reach settings.
  • Press down on the selector wheel.
  • Roll the wheel down until you see TPMS calibration.
  • Press the selector wheel again to choose calibration.
  • Drive around for a few miles until the system recalibrates.
As a last-ditch effort, always consult your owner’s manual to make sure you get the process correct. In the future, recalibrate the tires’ pressure anytime you refill them. But if the TPMS sensor continuously fails, you may need to replace it.
