How do I buy a car as a teenager?

I really need a car to get to and from work, but I'm only 17, and I’m not sure if anyone would sell me a car. How do I buy a car as a teenager?

Buying a car as a teenager can be tough, but it’s definitely possible! The first thing you’ll want to do is talk to your parents or guardians.
It may help to do some research. If you find a cheap car that will work for you, ask your parents if they will pay for it. If that’s not financially possible for your family, you could also try asking your parents to match your savings. (If you save $3,000, for example, your parents would also save $3,000 for you.)
If your parents aren’t able or willing to help you, you’ll need to save up for a car on your own. Keep in mind that buying a car isn’t just about the upfront cost; some cars, for example, are much
cheaper to insure
than others.
Keep in mind that if you have to get your insurance on your own, you’ll be paying more than the average person since you are under 25.
The easiest way to make sure you get the best deal on the coverage you need is to use the

Best of luck—you’ve got this!
