How do I apply for specialized driving privileges?
I had my license suspended for not having car insurance since I recently moved to Indiana. I don’t have any other tickets or moving violations. My friend told me that I can still apply to drive until my license is reinstated. How can I apply for specialized driving privileges?

allows you to apply for specialized driving privileges by filing a petition in the county where you received the ticket or the offense occurred.Here’s what you need to do:
- Get the proper forms by going to the courthouse in your county or download them from the county’s website. The form is officially called I.C. 9-30-16.
- To complete the form, you will need your name, address, phone number, and your case number.
- Once you’ve filled out the form, take it to the courthouse.
- After filing the paperwork, a judge will determine how long your specialized driving privileges will last. Prior to 2020, this time frame was between 180 and 900 days, but since 2020, it’s up to the discretion of the judge.
- You should get a formal ruling within a few weeks.
