How do I add Apple CarPlay to my BMW?
I just purchased my first iPhone, and in all honesty, I’m sad I didn’t make the decision sooner. I drive an older BMW with iDrive 5, and I just learned I can connect my phone to my car, but I have no idea where to start. How can I add Apple CarPlay to my BMW?

BMW
should only take a few minutes and isn’t too complicated.To add Apple CarPlay to your BMW, you should:
- Go to Settings, open the Communication menu, and then select Manage mobile devices on your car’s display screen.
- Then select Connect new device and Apple CarPlay. The vehicle ID should now be displayed.
- Go to Settings > General > CarPlay on your iPhone.
- Select your car from the Available cars list on your phone by matching the vehicle ID.
- Wait a minute or two for your phone and vehicle to establish a connection.
- Select Pair and Allow when prompted on your phone.
