How do I add another driver to my car insurance policy?

I live with both my partner and my best friend, and we're all close enough that my partner and I want to add my friend to our car insurance policy. I'm not exactly sure how to do this, though—how would I go about adding her to the insurance policy?

I’m happy to report that this is much easier than it might seem! All you need to do is contact your insurance provider.
They will probably ask for the following information for your friend:
  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Social Security Number
  • Occupation
  • How long they’ve had their license
  • Any recent traffic tickets or accidents
That should be all you need to get the process started!
It’s good to keep in mind, though, that adding another driver to your policy can be more expensive than simply
switching to a new provider
or policy, especially if she’s under 30 or has any recent driving violations on record.
If it does turn out to be too expensive to add her, try using a site like
Jerry
. We’ll get you free quotes from multiple providers, so you can all rest assured that you’re getting the best deal possible, and you can focus all your energy on your loved ones!
