How do I add a car to my USAA car insurance policy?

I currently have car insurance through USAA. I'm planning on buying another car for my spouse and giving hers to our son, but I'm not sure if USAA has any specific way to add a car. How can I add my spouse's new car to my USAA insurance policy?

Adding a new car to any insurance policy is usually fairly simple—just contact
USAA
at 1-800-531-8722 and tell them your plans.
You’ll need to provide the following information:
  • Year, make, and model of the vehicle
  • License plate number
  • State of registration
  • VIN (vehicle identification number)
If you’re financing the vehicle: You’ll likely need to add full coverage auto insurance, which includes
comprehensive coverage
and
collision coverage
, per the stipulations of your loan. Some lenders may also have a requirement for the maximum deductible you can set. Make sure to budget for this extra expense.
If your vehicle is financed (or if you just want an easy way to save some money) and you want to make sure you get the best deal for the coverage you need, check out
