How do I add a car to my USAA car insurance policy?

I currently have car insurance through USAA. I'm planning on buying another car for my spouse and giving hers to our son, but I'm not sure if USAA has any specific way to add a car. How can I add my spouse's new car to my USAA insurance policy?

“Good news—adding a new car to any insurance policy is usually fairly simple! Just contact USAA at 1-800-531-8722 and tell them your plans. You’ll need to provide:
  • Year, make, and model of the vehicle
  • License plate number
  • State of registration
  • VIN (vehicle identification number)
If you’re financing the vehicle, you need to add full coverage auto insurance per the stipulations of your loan, which includes comprehensive coverage and collision coverage. Make sure to budget for this extra expense.
If your vehicle is financed (or if you just want an easy way to save some money) and you want to make sure you get the best deal for the coverage you need, check out Jerry! We’ll get you multiple customized quotes from different providers instantly so that you can simply choose the plan you want. And once you’ve chosen, we’ll even help you switch! That way, you and your family can focus all your energy on the new cars in your life.
Enjoy your new rides!”
