How common are electric car charging stations?

How common are electric car charging stations in the U.S? I ask because I'm about to purchase an E.V., and I want to make sure that I'll have access to charging.

Congratulations on going electric. While charging stations are increasing, they are still not as common as gas stations.
The charging infrastructure in the U.S. has been one of the biggest hurdles to
electric car
adoption in the country. According to the Department of Energy, there are about 136,400 gas stations in America and only 43,800 charging stations. Of the electric car charging stations, the majority of them are Level 2 chargers.
The charging stations are unevenly distributed across the U.S., which is part of the problem. For example, California has almost the same amount of charging stations as the sum of the 39 states with the lowest amount. Apps like ChargePoint can help you find the closest chargers wherever you are.
E.V. Charging stations are an essential obstacle for the U.S. government and manufacturers to increase electric car sales.
