How can you help prevent rear-end collisions?

My son has a bit of a lead foot and has been in two rear-end collisions in the past year. While I’ve threatened to take away his driving privileges, I also thought teaching him how to prevent rear-end collisions would be equally as effective. How can you prevent rear-end collisions?

Teen drivers
are notoriously difficult to get through to. But if your son has already had some collisions, you can help prevent rear-collisions by offering up a few of these ideas:
  • Extend the distance between your car and the car in front of you.
  • Pay attention to driving conditions, especially in inclement weather.
  • Don’t drive distracted. Put your phone in the glove box or use hands-free technology.
  • Scan ahead 15 to 20 seconds.
  • Brake slowly rather than slamming on the brakes.
  • Obey the posted speed limit.
Since you’re taking a few minutes to explain to your son how to prevent rear-end collisions, why not take a few extra minutes to shop for car insurance with the
