How can you get a new car after a total loss?

My car was totaled a few weeks ago in a really bad accident. Luckily everyone is okay, but I need a car to get to work. I know that sometimes when you total a car, your insurance company can help you get a new one. Is there any way I can get a new car after a total loss?

I’m so sorry to hear that you were involved in an accident, but I’m glad no one was seriously hurt! To get a new car after a total loss, you can use your payout from the insurance company, as long as the loss is covered. If you had
new car replacement
on your insurance policy, your insurer will provide enough money to buy a similar vehicle.
If you did not purchase a new car replacement policy, most insurance plans will only pay a totaled vehicle’s actual cash value (ACV). Usually, the cash value is not enough to purchase a similar vehicle again, since cars tend to depreciate in value quickly, but the best way to find out if your insurance will be able to help you purchase a new vehicle is simply by asking your provider during the claims process.
Keep in mind that after an accident, your insurance premium will likely increase. If you want to make sure you’re still getting the best deal on the coverage you need, you may want to check out the

Best of luck—and hopefully everything goes smoothly.
