How to get a free car seat?
Is there any way to get free car seats for your kids? As a parent, I’m really big on safety—but I’m also big on budgeting. I’d like to get a good car seat for my daughter, but they’re so expensive. If there are any ways to get them cheaper or for free in California, I’d love to hear about them.

! Luckily, there are a few organizations that can help you out!Here are four of the easiest ways to get a free car seat:
- Safe Kids Worldwide is dedicated to children’s safety, and many local branches offer free car seats to financially challenged families. With over 400 locations across the United States, you can probably find a local branch.
- Women, Children, and Infant Offices (WIC) also do their best to help local parents provide for their children’s needs. Contact your community office and ask about car seats—they may have one or two to spare!
- Police or fire departments sometimes have programs that provide parents with free car seats. But even if your local department doesn’t have a car seat program, they can direct you to organizations that could help.
- 211 is a financial services hotline across the U.S. If you’re struggling with food, rent, or car seats, they may be able to help. Give them a call and ask if you’re eligible for a free car seat!
Car seats can be expensive, but they’re vital to children’s safety. Never buy second-hand seats, and always check your seat’s expiration date. If your car seat is ever in an accident, replace it. Car accidents can damage car seats internally, making them unsafe for your child.
