How can you fix a sagging bumper?

I recently bought a used car from a family friend that is in great mechanical condition, but the interior and exterior could certainly use some work. I can clean the interior and exterior, but what’s the best way to fix a sagging bumper?

Congratulations on the new car! It sounds like you have your hands full with cleaning up the car, and fortunately, there are two main ways to fix a sagging bumper.
To fix a sagging bumper gap on your car, you can repair the bumper by examining the area around, underneath, and behind your bumper for any broken clips, mounting tabs, clip mounts, or bolt holes. These fasteners keep the bumper secured to the vehicle, and when broken, they can lead to a sagging bumper.
Once you determine the cause of your sagging bumper, you can:
  • Purchase and install new clips, tabs, or mounts. Depending on your vehicle’s make and model, the parts are usually only a few dollars and are easily replaceable at home.
  • Purchase and install all-fit bumper quick releases. If multiple clips, mounts, or holes have broken, quick-release mounts are a better option. You can purchase them easily at an auto parts store and installation is relatively simple.
If the damage is severe or you’re not comfortable performing the repairs yourself, you should visit a mechanic or body shop to have it done professionally.
