How can I tell if a car has insurance?

Someone ran into my car last night, and they didn't stop to leave any contact information. Thankfully, no one was in my car, but how do I find out if that person was insured? There's a traffic cam nearby, so I think we should be able to get the license plate.

I’m sorry to hear about your car, but I’m glad to hear you’re okay!
Often in a car accident, a police report has to be filed. In some states, it’s mandatory, and in the case of a hit and run, it’s imperative.
You should:
  • Take pictures of the scene
  • Contact the police and file a report
  • Contact your insurance and get a claim started
Hopefully, you can get the license plate number from that traffic cam which will help, and through this, you can find out if they’re insured.
If the other person was not covered, you might want to check and see if you have
