How can I stop reckless driving?

I was pulled over by a police officer the other day for speeding 30 mph over the limit. Thankfully, he let me off with a warning, but I’m worried my lead foot will get me in big trouble. What should I do to stop driving recklessly?

Wow, you got lucky! Reckless driving can refer to a number of unsafe driving behaviors, so it can be dangerously easy to do.
It’s crucial to
practice safe driving
at all times because reckless driving can come with serious consequences. Here are some tips to help you stop reckless driving:
  1. Plan ahead. You won’t be as tempted to drive at reckless speeds if you leave early enough. Make sure to factor in any possible traffic, too.
  2. Work on your road rage. High-stress driving tends to bring out the worst in everyone, but driving decisions made while frustrated can lead to recklessness and accidents.
  3. Obey traffic rules. If you’ve been driving for a while, it can be easy to forget to signal or run stop signs at the last minute—but these actions can lead to weighty consequences.
  4. Remove distractions. If distracted driving is a habit of yours, it’s critical to remove all temptations. That may include putting your phone on do not disturb, avoiding snacking, or setting up your music before leaving.
  5. Keep your distance. Nobody likes when the car in front of us is going too slow, but it’s important not to tailgate. Otherwise, you run the risk of rear-ending someone if they stop suddenly.
